Many Christian teachings foretell an antiChrist, a diabolical figure that tricks many people into following him and turning them against Jesus Christ. During the Obama administration, a number of far-right religious folks claimed he was the antiChrist, along with being a secret Muslim, and quite a few other bizarre conspiracy stories.
It didn’t matter to them that President Obama was a practicing Christian, even though he didn’t openly flaunt it. They didn’t care that he followed the teachings of Jesus and had no scandals, the far-right preached that he was destroying Christianity by doing things like supporting marriage equality and a woman’s right to choose.
Then along came Donald Trump, a lewd and philandering New York real estate hustler with multiple divorces, and an admitted sexual attraction to his own daughter. Trump was the opposite of Obama and fit the stereotype of a godless elitist who bragged about sexually assaulting women.
If Trump had been a Democrat, he would have been crucified by the conservative media, and rightly so. Yet the pundits who criticized Obama constantly gave The Donald a free pass, and lined up to kiss his corpulent ass. More qualified candidates like John Kasich and Jeb Bush were almost completely ignored, even Rick Santorum who is a darling of the anti-choice movement.
The religious right fawned over Trump and most happily overlooked his past, because of their hatred for President Obama and Hillary Clinton, a figure they have despised for decades. It didn’t matter to them that Russia interfered in our elections, even though Moscow was seen as the greatest enemy of Christian America for nearly 100 years. Even my own mother has said that she would send Putin a thank-you note if it was proven they cost Hillary the election, because she hates her that much.
Nearly everything Trump ran on was the opposite of Christ’s message. He wants to slash programs for the poor, and deny asylum to refugees. He promised to “drain the swamp” but filled his administration with billionaires and the money-changers Jesus chased out of the Temple.
If you have followed me for awhile, you know that I am an atheist, but I am very well-versed in the Bible and Christianity. I know what they taught about the idea of an antiChrist, and Trump fits those prophecies to a T. He has self-described Christians cheering at the prospect of killing innocent Muslims. Jesus said to care for the poor, but Trump supporters say “fuck the poor” and perpetuate false witness about voting fraud.
Jesus said “turn the other cheek” but Trump supporters say “kill them all.” The Bible says to welcome refugees because the Jews were refugees from Egypt, Trump says to turn them away and build a wall on the border with one of our most important trading partners, which is also a devoutly religious country.
There is nothing Christ-like about Trump, and he is the closest thing to an antiChrist this country has ever seen in a leader. Cthulhu help us all.
@HillaryClinton isn't under investigation for being a Russian plant, you fucking moron.
