Back when I was a kid, I was completely brainwashed into Republican politics. Long before I became an adult, I had rubbed elbows with the likes of former VA governor George Allen, Alan Keyes, Pat Buchanan – just to name a few. When I was in my early teens, I worked to get Emmett Hanger elected to the Virginia’s Senate, something I was personally thanked for at his victory party.
That was then, and this is now. Russian operatives are pushing the #WalkAway hashtags on social media. Our intelligence community has determined Russia interfered in the 2016 elections, and are already actively working to disrupt our 2018 mid-term elections as well.
Vladimir Putin is likely in possession of compromising information on Donald Trump that would likely make the alleged “Pee-Pee Tapes” look mild in comparison.
I am not going to discuss the details of what is possibly in that file, but let’s just say it possibly involves early-teen girls and Trump. After all, he did talk about walking in on beauty pageant contestants, so this is not a big stretch.
I briefly considered voting for John McCain in 2008. Then his campaign had the moronic idea of bring Sarah Palin on the ticket. That’s when I decided to #WalkAway.
The only time now when I will cast a ballot for a Republican is when I have no other choice, thanks to Louisiana’s “jungle primary” system. In 2016, I had to choose between a Republican candidate I didn’t care for – versus Clay Higgins, who spews white nationalist dog-whistle vitriol on his Facebook page.
This is the call for the remaining Republicans who have any sense – it’s time to #WalkAway. Trust me, it’s not easy. I know you’ve devoted your lives to an ideology that was supposed to be about limited government, fiscal responsibility, and free markets.
Trump has changed all of that. Your government, completely controlled by Republicans, has exploded our national debt – during a time of an exploding stock market that he inherited from Obama.
Now is the time to #WalkAway. This is your chance to reclaim a little bit of decency. History will not be kind to people who looked the other way on treason. Ronald Reagan would be spinning in his grave right now.
